What is Two Factor Authentication?

Two Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an extra security step. When you log in, you’ll receive a code on your phone, email, or authenticator app that you must enter to access your account.

What We Do

DayDream supports three types of 2FA methods to ensure seamless access to your insurance portals:
  • Email: DayDream creates a unique email for each of your insurance portal logins
  • SMS: DayDream provides a managed phone number for receiving text message codes
  • Authenticator App: DayDream can generate codes using authenticator app technology
Each login can be configured with DayDream-managed contact information so our team can receive 2FA codes directly. Don’t worry — all codes we receive are automatically forwarded to you, so you can still access all your logins.

Why We Do It

Because so many portals require 2FA, we need a way to be able to get 2FA codes without having to ask your office every time we attempt to log in. By using DayDream-managed contact information, we can get 2FA codes instantly, and so will your office!

How to Do It

Email 2FA Setup

  1. Go to the DayDream Logins Manager page
  2. Click the “Configure 2FA Forwarding” button near the top right of the screen
  3. For each of your locations, add the email address you wish to receive 2FA codes for. Note that these can all be the same if you wish

  4. For each of your insurance accounts, log in to the portal and update the email to be the one shown in the insurance portal login information sidebar in DayDream

SMS 2FA Setup

Your DayDream team will handle the setup process. Once configured:
  • SMS codes sent from insurance portals will automatically be forwarded to all team members who provided phone numbers during your DayDream platform setup
  • If multiple staff members and dentists included their cell numbers during setup, everyone will receive the forwarded codes
  • You’ll continue to receive SMS codes on your personal phones as usual

Authenticator App 2FA Setup

Your DayDream team will handle the setup process. Once configured:
  • Authenticator app codes will be visible in your DayDream Logins Manager
  • You can view and copy codes directly from your DayDream account when needed
  • No additional setup or apps are required on your end

Troubleshooting & FAQs

Q: Will I still be able to log into my accounts if 2FA is set up through DayDream? A: Yes! You’ll still receive all 2FA codes:
  • Email → Forwarded to your office’s email address
  • SMS → Forwarded as text messages to all team members who provided phone numbers during DayDream setup
  • Authenticator App → Visible in your DayDream Logins Manager
Q: Which location is an email forwarded to? A: If a login is linked to a specific location, the email will be sent only to that location’s email address. If your account isn’t linked to any location, the email will go to all your locations. Q: What do you do with 2FA codes after using them and forwarding them to us? A: Codes we receive are automatically deleted on our end after five minutes, so you can be sure that we do not retain any sensitive information regarding your accounts. Q: After changing my insurance login information to use DayDream’s contact info, I’m no longer receiving 2FA codes. A: Make sure you entered your contact information in the “Configure 2FA Forwarding” section of the logins manager. If you still don’t see codes, double check your spam inbox or contact your DayDream team. Q: What if I’m hesitant about using DayDream’s email address or phone number? A: It’s completely safe and secure to use DayDream 2FA contact information. We automatically delete emails and texts after five minutes, and you still receive copies of all codes. Q: What if I want to change the email address where codes are being sent? A: Your DayDream team can simply update the email address in the “Configure 2FA Forwarding” section and save the changes. Q: What if I want to change or update my phone number? A: Simply log into DayDream and go to your profile settings to update your contact information. This will automatically update where SMS codes are forwarded. Q: What if I want to limit or change who receives SMS codes? A: SMS codes are forwarded to all team members who provided phone numbers during your initial DayDream platform setup. If you need to update who receives SMS codes, team members can modify their phone numbers in their DayDream account settings under “Manage Account” → “Phone Numbers” section. Q: How do we only have certain users get the codes or only a specific person? A: SMS codes are automatically sent to all team members who have phone numbers in their DayDream profiles. To limit who receives codes, you can:
  • Remove phone numbers from team members’ DayDream profiles who shouldn’t receive codes
  • Have team members update their contact information in their DayDream account settings
  • Contact your DayDream team if you need help managing who receives SMS codes
